Mira Costa’s boys tennis team defeated Dos Pueblos High School at Dos Pueblos 15-3 on Friday with top performances from freshman Kyle Sillman and senior Jeremy Chung.
Sillman and Chung lost their first doubles game, but were able to come back from the loss to defeat their opponent in their second game. Sophomore Shant Samuelian led the team in singles by winning both of his games. According to junior Bobby Sillman, the team performed well and won the games swiftly.
“The team did well at closing out the matches when it was up by a lot and not giving any games away,” Sillman said.
Costa is currently 14-2 overall and 5-1 in Bay League and will next play Santa Barbara on April 16 at Santa Barbara. According to Sillman, the team needs to focus on creating more strategies to win the games.
“The team needs to work on more team spirit, especially when the matches are close,” Sillman said.
