Mira Costa’s boys golf team defeated Santa Monica High School 198-212 in its last match of the season on Thursday at the Chester Washington Golf Course, with a top performance by freshman Max Huggins.
The team started out strong in the beginning of the match with several birdie and par shots. Later in the game, Costa continued to increase its lead and with a low score of 38 by Huggins, Costa was able to defeat Santa Monica. According to Huggins, the team played well and finished the season off strong .
“I am proud of the team’s performance and I believe we had a strong game.,” Huggins said. “We played very consistently throughout the match and everyone had a solid game.”
Costa is currently 12-3 overall and undefeated in Bay League 8-0. The team’s next match is in the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) on Monday against an undetermined opponent. According to Huggins, the team should play well in CIF.
“We have been preparing for CIF this entire season and I believe we are ready, and we will do well on Monday’s match and in future CIF matches as well,” Cox said.
