Mira Costa’s baseball team was defeated by Chatsworth High School 7-6 in the final game of the Chatsworth Tournament on Saturday. Performance from senior Ty Conrad helped the Mustangs rally on runs early in the game.
Conrad contributed to the Mustang’s six-run inning in the top of the second with a double which drove in two runs long with two more hits in the remainder of the game. The Mustangs went up 6-0 but were unable to sustain its lead by the end of the game. According to Conrad, the team played well early on but couldn’t maintain their dominance throughout the game.
“We had a very strong first couple of innings,” Conrad said. “We just needed to find a way to put runs on the board late in the game.”
The Mustangs, now 20-5 overall and 2-2 in Bay League will face off against Morningside High School in an away game on Tuesday in a Bay League game. According to Conrad, if the team can keep their consistency they should have no problem winning.
“As long as we can continue our dominance that we have had this season,” Conrad said. “We should have no problem getting the job done against Morningside.”
