Mira Costa’s girls softball team lost to Peninsula 3-2 on Wednesday in an away game.
Neither team scored in the first three innings, but Peninsula managed to grab the lead in the fourth inning, putting the score at 1-0. They then gained two more points throughout the game. The Mustangs scored two points in the last inning, but they were unable to recover, and lost 3-2.
“It was a tough lost, especially since we were so close to tying in the last inning,” said junior outfielder Erica Noll.
The Mustangs next play Inglewood on Friday in an away game. Their current Bay League record is 1-2, and their overall record is 6-10. According to freshman shortstop Morgan Inghamn, the last two losses are costing the team confidence and motivation.
“We won our big game against Redondo, which was great, but it’s hard to come back after two losses in a row,” Inghamn said. “We just need to stay strong mentally and physically so we can get back on track.”
