Mira Costa’s boys volleyball team fell 3-2 to the nation’s top team, Huntington Beach High School, on Thursday.  The scores were 25-21, 21-25, 22-25, 25-19, and 15-17

Huntington Beach ultimately won the five set battle, but the whole match was very close and every point had significance.  According to junior outside hitter Kevin Pinkerton it was a great game by both sides and had a very competitive atmosphere.

“It was tough losing but it was a great game overall and now we are ready for playoffs,” Pinkerton said.

Mira Costa finished their regular season at 22-5 overall.  They next play Northwood High School at home, and the Mustangs are the number one seed for California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) in the Southern Section.  According to junior libero Will Taylor, the team needs to remain focused and determined heading into playoffs.

“I think we have a good chance of doing well as long as we concentrate at all times,” Taylor said.
