Just like a last minute Mother’s Day card, the film “Mother’s Day” is poorly constructed and full of cheesy and overused lines.
“Mother’s Day” was a cheesy mesh of multiple poorly executed and over the top stories. This movie criss-crossed between multiple stories and connected them in boring and poorly executed ways.
Mother’s Day is coming up for a divorced family whose father just remarried to younger woman. A veteran who is also a father must decide how to celebrate Mother’s Day with his children after his wife’s recent death. A comedian continues to propose to his girlfriend of 5 years who is also the mother of his child. Finally a woman tries to meet her birth mother for the first time so she can finally marry with family present.
“Mother’s Day” was written terribly with too many stories jammed together so no story was given enough time to fully develop. The jokes were predictable and cheesy just like the entire storyline and the stories were too lazily pieced together to have a connection to one another.
This film featured many big name actors like Jennifer Aniston and Jason Sudeikis but they did not perform well in their roles. The star studded cast was held back by the terrible script which resulted in acting that was very over the top at times.
“Mother’s Day” was very unoriginal and tried to draw emotion from the viewer in anyway possible by featuring parts of another predictable and cliche story that it could. These movies featured topics that have been used in stories in so many times they’re not worth telling again.
This film was poorly directed since the experienced line up of actors were not used to the film’s advantage. This director wasted the potential that his cast had by implementing stories in haphazard ways, by failing to piece all of it together.
The cinematography in “Mother’s Day” is decent and features many developed and detailed sets with respectable film quality. The film’s quality was satisfactory but it featured many errors like when the character Bradley (Jason Sudeikis) is using crutches and puts his body weight on the foot in the cast instead of the healthy leg.
“Mother’s Day” was meant to be an emotional and uplifting story of many families overcoming issues through their love for each other but it failed to accomplish this. This film instead created many under developed and over the top plot lines that attempted to play on viewers emotions.
This movie is not worth the time or money to see it since it is so atrociously written and carried out which wastes the star studded cast it features. This film is playing nationwide and is rated PG-13 for language and some sexual material.
