For the busy student or extracurricular fanatic, the newly released app, To:Day, helps keep all tasks organized and complete.
With an easy to use format and a minimalistic aesthetic, this app helps students easily slide through their to-do list. Though To:Day keeps responsibilities easily in view with a sleek design, some more advanced features, like color coding or the ability to file tasks under subjects, hold the application back.
Developed and released in December 2015 by Wenjun Zhao, the app allows users to set alarms for their duties, set events further in advance, countdown the days they have until their event, and chose stylish backgrounds for each assignment. It can also allow users to add tasks they need to do for each event as well, as a to-do list in each event.
If one has ever used the apple calendar app, which is preinstalled in all apple products, it has multiple calendars for different tasks needed. However, To:Day shows only one task per day, and to see future tasks, one can swipe to view all upcoming events. This easy layout is user-friendly for anyone. The sleek design leaves users focusing only on what they must need to do on the current day – and can easily browse any upcoming events.
However, the lack of complexity can leave the extremely organized feeling lost. With no ability to color code, or put tasks in priority or subject order, the viewing of the app may not be as aesthetic to someone who enjoys using colors to keep themselves on tasks. For many students, with multiple class subjects, this may be a strong downside. Another complication with the app is that there is also no feature to say when a task specifically ends at a given time.
This app is perfect for a minimalist who likes to stay organized, but may not be enough for the methodical. With the benefits of a simple design the app is easy applicable for a student or busy worker but may not be enough. To:Day is available for free on the App Store on Apple products for free.
