Mira Costa’s Comedysportz team will be competing in their final match on May 20 in Costa’s small theater.

Costa’s Comedysportz team will be competing against each other in their last match of their season. The game’s theme will be “Boys vs. Girls” where Costa’s team will be divided by gender.

“The team has taken every challenge with stride and the rewards at the end are so worth it,” Comedysportz team captain Miranda Baldo said.

The Comedysportz team meets every Tuesday and Thursday to prepare for upcoming matches. Each week, the team practices various games in order to improve their improv skills.

“The practices really help us to improve upon our skills and our a vital part of being on the team,” Comedysportz member Jack Drinker said.

In addition to this being the last game of the school year, this is also the senior’s last Comedysportz match. The seniors on the team will all have plenty of playing time in their final game. A few seniors will continue to play on college Comedysportz teams next year.

“The seniors have all helped us so much throughout the year and have really contributed a lot to our team,” Drinker said. “It will be so sad to see them go but we know they will continue to achieve great things.”

According to Baldo, the twelve new additions to the Comedysportz team have all grown significantly over this past year. The new members joined in the fall of this year after going through tryouts.

“The new members barely understood how to create a straight scene in the beginning of the year,” Baldo said. “But once they had some practice under their belt they transformed into confident improvers.”

At the start of next year, Costa’s Comedysportz team will host tryouts in order to build back up their team. The Comedysportz team will also be voting on a new team captain at the end of the school year.

“Next year’s team is going to continue the legacy and do amazing things in their own way,” Baldo said. “I can’t wait to see what they will accomplish in the future.”
