Mira Costa’s girls golf team had a resounding away victory with a score of 206-259 over rival Redondo Union, at Alondra Golf Course on Thursday. It was a non-league match so it does not factor into their Bay League record.
Junior Klara Nagy led the team to the win with a score of even par 36. According to senior Lexi Nielsen, the team was confident about their match.
“Overall, we all have our weak areas in our games,” said Nielsen. “However, we played well enough to get this win. This is the start of the season and we all have room for improvement. We are very confident for the rest of the season.”
With an overall undefeated record of 2-0, Costa next faces Santa Monica High School at Penmar Golf Course on Tuesday. According to coach Tom Cox, he was happy with their play and likes the potential within the team.
“I’m encouraged by the early play of the team and the leadership of our returning players,” said Cox. As we introduce new players onto the varsity, it allows me to see the potential within this team.”
Mira Costa easily beat Redondo Union High School Tuesday at our home course, Chester L. Washington Golf Course. The Mustangs had an even more dominant win with a final score of 208-287 and junior Sanjana Chopra felt that Costa played well.
“Even though it was windy Tuesday, the whole team stayed focused and performed the way we wanted to,” said Chopra.
