The Mira Costa girls volleyball team swept Laguna Beach at home on Oct. 26. Costa’s record now stands at 15-6 for the season and 5-0 in Bay League.
The Mustangs finished with scores of 25-12, 25-22, and 25-16. The first game was an easy win for Costa, but the team began to fall behind in the second game. When the score was 19-22, junior Maddy Klineman led the Mustangs in a six point streak and helped them win the game.
Klineman was the top performer, with 11 kills, 2 blocks, and 8 aces. Other contributions came from Costa’s seniors, most notably Emma White. White had 6 kills and 11 digs.
“I was concerned that maybe we wouldn’t be as fired up after last week’s emotional games, but we did a good job,” head coach Lisa Zimmerman said.
The Mustangs will play West Torrance at home on Oct. 28.
