Mira Costa’s cross country team competed at its second meet of the season, on Saturday, at Laguna Hills. The boys team finished first overall, while the girls took fourth. The meet had top performances by junior Xavier Court and senior Elizabeth Chittenden.
The boys cross country team took first with the time of 81:10 seconds. Girls took fourth, with 95:32. Court finished fourth in the boys individual meet with 15:44. In the girls individual race, Chittenden raced 18:06 and placed fourth.
“We have been very consistent, and the guys have shown a lot of teamwork and comradery among each other,” said coach Roberto Calderon.
Costa has placed first overall in the meet, and are training to race at Silverlakes Sports-Norco, on Saturday. According to Calderon, the team has been working really hard, and has the most mileage Costa has ever had.
“Last year we got a taste of success,” said Calderon,”and this year we know what it takes to get to the next level.”
