The head of the meeting, Heather Hoffman, reads aloud the agenda for the school board meeting. The agenda is always read at the very beginning of the school board meetings to inform the attendees of what is being discussed during the meeting.
Three of the school board members sit together while taking note on what is being said during the meeting. Taking notes allows them to gather their ideas before commenting on issues.
Dr. Murakawa-Leopard of the members of the school board explains her ideas to the rest of the group. Following this other school board members and community members were given the opportunity to comment on her ideas.
Bill Fornell and Jennifer Cochran listened to the ideas and asked questions about the issues. This allows for improvements to be made on the ideas suggested and drives further discussion.

A member of the Manhattan Beach community presents his ideas on the projector to the members of the school board. After his ideas were presented the school board members asked questions.
