The Mira Costa girls volleyball team finished in 11th in the Tournament of Champions hosted by Santa Barbara High School on Oct. 29 and 30.

The Mustangs played Archbishop Mitty of San Jose and lost 25-22, 20-25, 21-25, and 23-25. They then swept Long Beach Wilson with scores of 25-13, 25-14, and 25-14. The Mustangs lost the game against Newport Harbor after finishing with scores of 17-25, 15-25, 25-18, and 20-25. Their final game against Santa Margarita was a victory, with a sweep consisting of scores 25-15, 25-22, and 25-23.

The top performer of the tournament was senior outside hitter Emma White. White frequently provided digs and kills for the Mustangs, who decided to play the majority of their players throughout the tournament.

“We were able to play most of our team in more than one match, so that helps our depth going into playoffs,” head coach Lisa Zimmerman said.

The Mustangs will be traveling to Palos Verdes Peninsula on Nov. 2 for their penultimate game of the regular season.
