Mira Costa’s girls golf team emerged victorious, 200-208, in a close match over rival Palos Verdes, at Chester Washington Golf Course in Los Angeles on Tuesday.
Senior Ashley Kim led the team to victory with a score of 1-under par par 35. She was backed up by scores of 37 and 38 from freshman Shani Waite and senior Lexi Nielsen respectively. According to Nielsen, the team did not play well.
“The team played pretty bad yesterday,” Nielsen said. “The hot conditions were a little rough while playing.”
With an overall undefeated record of 6-0 and 3-0 in Bay League, Costa next faces Palos Verdes once again in an away match at Palos Verdes Golf Course next Tuesday. Despite this undefeated start, Nielsen still sees room for improvement for the team.
“We are going to Palos Verdes this Thursday to compete against them again,” Nielsen said “With this close match we are making sure we will focus on every shot to better our chance at winning this match and league in a couple weeks.”
