Mira Costa’s girls golf team emerged victorious, 200-218, in a close match over rival Palos Verdes, at Palos Verdes Golf Club in Palos Verdes on Thursday.
Senior Lexi Nielsen led the team to victory with a score of 2-over par par 37. She was backed up by a score of 40 from freshman Shani Waite. According to Nielsen, the team played well.
“I’m really happy about how we played as a team,” Nielsen said. “This course was really hard and I think we played well especially because we were missing our top player.
With an overall undefeated record of 7-0 and 4-0 in Bay League, Costa next faces West Torrance in a home match next Tuesday. Despite this undefeated start, Nielsen still sees room for improvement for the team.
“We are going to West Torrance this upcoming Tuesday to compete against West,” Nielsen said “With this match we are feeling more confident and feel we have a good chance at winning this match and league in a couple weeks.”
