Mira Costa’s girls golf team won 212-257 in a comfortable win over rival West Torrance, at Alondra Golf Course in Lawndale on Thursday.
Freshman Shani Waite led the team to victory shooting a 78. She was backed up by a score of 41 from senior Lexi Nielsen. According to Nielsen, the team played decently.
“I did not feel like we played to our best ability,” Nielsen said. “We pieced together an alright score but we were missing our top player today.”
With an overall undefeated record of 9-0 and 6-0 in Bay League, Costa next faces Peninsula in an away match this upcoming Tuesday for the title of Bay League Champion. Despite this undefeated start, Nielsen still feels that the team, although playing well, has not lived up to its full potential.
“Yesterday we were missing 4 of our varsity members. One of the freshman, Lauren Chao, stepped it up,” Nielsen said “I am happy with the win and hopefully we will keep or winning streak for our last two matches against Peninsula for the Bay League title.”
