Water Polo falls to Dana Hills 5-4

Mira Costa’s boys water polo team narrowly lost to Dana Hills 5-4 on Saturday at Dana Hills with top performance by senior goaltender Paul Matt.

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                             According to senior attacker Christian Thornton, The Mustangs did not play well on offense or defense, giving up too many chances. They relied on Matt too much, and unfortunately lost the game.

“We could not score or perform well on offense and defense, and therefore lost because of it,” Thornton said.

Costa, now 8-5 overall, will play at home against Peninsula this Tuesday in a Bay League game. According to Thornton, Costa needs to play as a team to be successful.     

“To be successful, we need to work together together, and play our best water polo,” Thornton said.
