Mira Costa’s girls tennis defeated San Marcos High School 14-4 away on Friday, with a top performance by senior Amy Gaal, who was down in the set but was able to come back.

Gaal led the team to victory winning her singles match 7-5. She was backed up by senior Lena Nagy who took on the opposing team’s number one player but lost 5-7. According to Gaal, she had to work hard in order to get the lead back when falling behind early in the match.

“I was very proud with my performance today,” Gaal said. “Although I fell behind early in the match I was able to pick up my serving and secure a Costa victory.”

Costa, now 11-4 overall, will take on Santa Barbara High School on Saturday away at Santa Barbara High School. According to Gaal, she needs to work on the consistently of her serves so that she doesn’t fall behind early in the match again.

“It was not easy falling behind early in the match and having to make a comeback,” Gaal said.  “I’m really going to have to work on my serves if we want to win our next match against a strong Dos Pueblos team.”
