Bump. Set. Hit. Costa receives another point.

Mira Costa’s girls volleyball team breezed past Inglewood in a home game on Tuesday. The scores of the sets were 25-1, 25-4 and 25-3.

“We took care of this game pretty easily, and we had a lot of fun,” sophomore outside hitter Mempshis Glasgow said. “We got to have our liberos play the front row.”

Costa dominated the first game, 25-1, allowing the one point on a fluke play. Junior libero Emily Dubinsky was the key player in the first set, contributing a high percentage of the team’s hitting overpasses.

“We kept our errors low and did well at siding out when they served,” senior outside hitter Amanda Montag said.

The Mustangs won the next game, 25-4, with over five kills in the front row by sophomore libero Riley Hazelrigg. Costa won the last game just as fast with a score of 25-3. The key player in the game was senior setter Britt Bommer, who played great defense and contributed multiple strong set up passes.

“We did a good job of getting the ball back when a point didn’t go our way,” senior outside hitter Hannah Scott said. “We were aggressive at the net, and we did a good job of feeding the hitters who were finishing consistently.”

According to Scott, Inglewood is fun team to play and gives all of  the players a chance to  play different positions than normal.

“The importance of Inglewood is to prepare for Santa Barbara next weekend, which will be a tough tournament,” Montag said.

The Mustangs, 21-7 overall and 7-1 in Bay League, played at Morningside on Thursday, but the results were unavailable at the time of publication.

“It’s our second-to-last match in league, and although we are really fired up to play Redondo next Tuesday, we have to make sure we focus in on this match in order to stay on top of our league wins,” Scott said.
