Mira Costa’s Associated Student Body hosted its annual Homecoming Week, which led up to last Friday’s Homecoming football game at Waller Stadium and Saturday’s dance in the Fisher Gym.

The Homecoming Court consisted of six princes and six princesses who were selected by Costa juniors and seniors. During the week leading up to the Homecoming football game, ASB paired each prince and princess together.

Each couple dressed up during Homecoming Week and participated in games at lunch. The Court also performed a dance at Friday’s pep rally before the game.

“I was excited to dress up for the week and was happy that I got to know the other members of the Court,” Homecoming Princess and senior Junko Cohn said.

ASB decorated the field with multiple arches and letters spelling out “Homecoming.” The Mustang Morning News presented a video parody of the television show, “The Office,” featuring the court. The video ended with Costa Principal Dr. Ben Dale announcing the 2016 king and queen, seniors Ronald (Michai) Clinton and Danielle Gonzales.

At halftime, the Homecoming princes and princesses rode around the track in cars and stood with their families on the field.

“My favorite part of the game was sharing this amazing moment with Michai because he is one of the kindest and most genuine people at school,” Gonzales said.

The theme of the Homecoming dance was “Around the World.” ASB created decorations such as posters of different countries in order to decorate the gym.

“The dance let me spend time with my friends on the Homecoming Court,” Gonzales said.  “It was a bittersweet moment because we were together, and it was our last Homecoming event of the week.”
