Mira Costa’s girls volleyball team defeated rival Redondo union, 3-0, at a home game on Tuesday, earning them the title of Bay League Champion. The top players were senior outside hitter Hannah Scott and freshmen utility hitter Abrielle Bross.
The Mustangs started out even against Redondo High School in the first match, winning 25-21, but were able to dominate the second and third matches, ending with the scores of 25-17 and 25-16.
“We had a consistent offense and good energy throughout the match,” Scott said.
Costa, 24-3 overall and 9-1 in Bay League, competes in their first California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) game on an undetermined date against an undetermined opponent. According to sophomore outside hitter Sami Underwood, it is now single elimination in the CIF games.
“Every game could be our last so we need to give it our all the rest of the season and play with no regrets,” Montag said.
