Mira Costa’s Associated Student Body held a costume contest for staff and students on Oct. 31 in the Mustang Mall.
ASB juniors and seniors chose the contest winners. The categories for each grade were funniest costume and scariest costume and ASB chose an overall winner of the contest.
“I thought the costume contest was a great idea,” Sophomore ASB President Max Haber said. “It really allowed kids to express themselves in the form of a Halloween costume.”
ASB gave prizes to each winner, such as $10 Baskin Robins gift cards and $10 Chipotle gift cards.
“The prize selection was pretty generous,” sophomore Sam Khron said. “I was envious of the people who won the prizes. I’m going to have to participate next year.”
There was no charge to participate in the contest. Students and staff signed up during snack and then were evaluated by the four ASB members who then chose the winners.
“When looking around there were some really creative costumes,” freshman winner of funniest costume Dain Johnson said. “I spent 3 hours creating my costume, so I really wanted my efforts to be rewarded with a win.”
