NxWorries’ debut “Yes Lawd!” impresses with its personal lyrics and wide vocal range

Experimental hip-hop duo, NxWorries, debuted their first studio album “Yes Lawd!”.

“Yes Lawd!” producer Knwledge uses his skills to make  beats that that compliment and never over take the vocals, while .Paak gives a natural hip hop feel to the vocals adding an original hip-hop, soul inspired and R&B feeling. The duo weave each song together as a balancing act between highs and lows throughout the album, and in each track.

The duo met through independent hip-hop label Stones Throw Records. They began producing music in early 2015, and debuted their first EP, “Link Up and Suede” in December 2015.

The duo consists of Knwledge who is a hip-hop producer and beatmaker, that has worked with popular artists such as Kendrick Lamar, Earl Sweatshirt, and Action Bronson. The other half is made up of Anderson .Paak who is an up and coming rapper and songwriter whose rise to fame is just starting, he was featured on the 2016 XXL cypher.

The production on the album builds a calm and relaxing atmosphere, that compliments .Paak’s soothing vocals. Knwledge’s ability to construct extensive loops that establish a hypnotic and soothing listen, are present on the album.

Anderson .Paak is able to display his ability to rap, but also showcases his wide range of vocals on the album, producing a satisfying mix of the two.The track “Kutless”,displays his wide variety of which Knwledge creates the perfect beat to contain the vocals.

On the track “Livvin,” where .Paak describes the dark struggles of growing up with an abusive dad, becoming homeless, losing his job, but is able to refocus on all the positive experiences from his life. Paak’s deep vocals throughout the album assist in telling the emotional stories of each song.”

Although Knwledge’s past beattapes have been sloppy or missing something such as on ALALALA, Knwledge’s tunes have the perfect sound in “Yes Lawd!”. An example of this is in “What more can I say”, where Knwledge uses a sample of a violin to make one of the premier songs on the album due to the

NxWorries forms a great  duo making “Yes Lawd!” the perfect album to get their name out. The album displays Paak’s wide vocal range, meaningful storytelling, and beats that are soothing but also compliment the vocals.
