Mira Costa’s boys basketball team fell to Warren High School 55-63 in the El Segundo Tournament on Friday. The top players were senior guard Ryan White and senior forward Jonas Pittman.

Costa started out strong, taking the lead 9-19. The Mustangs fell behind by a few points by the end the first half, ending it 30-28. Costa dominated the third quarter 40-48, but ultimately lost in the end 55-63. According to junior guard Owen Pugnale, the team came out strong and put a lot of pressure on them.

“We did a good job of driving into the gaps and finding open shooters,” Pittman said.

The Mustangs, now 4-4 overall, next play Torrance High School in an away game on Tuesday. According to Pittman, the next game should be very competitive since they beat them last year.

“We will use the loss as motivation to come out even stronger and win the next one,” Pugnale said.
