Mira Costa’s girls water polo team defeated Capistrano Valley 10-5 on Tuesday in an away game extending their winning streak to three with a top performance by sophomore attacker Camille Lyter.
The Mustangs were scoring on the board early in the game, and were working on plenty of counter attacks according to sophomore attacker Katie Alcantara. Costa also caused plenty of turnovers, and were sustaining pressure, leading to goals off of turnovers in the second half.
“Our team played well,” Alcantara said. “We worked hard and our defense has excellent.”
Costa, now 5-4 overall, will next play Culver City Wednesday in an away game. According to Alcantara, Costa needs to communicate to be successful.
“To be successful, we need to focus even more on our counter attacks we must communicate in the pool,” Alcantara said.
