Mira Costa’s boys basketball team fell to Sonora High School 62-51 on Tuesday in the Torrey Pines Tournament in San Diego. The top players were senior guard Ryan White, junior shooting guard Bobby Barkley, and senior point guard Brandon Chan, all with 11 points.

Costa was up 25-20 at the end of the first half but Sonora came back in the beginning of the third quarter with a run and gained a ten point lead. The Mustangs were unable to come back causing them to lose 62-51.

“We did a good job on defense and didn’t let them drive into the gaps,” senior forward Jonas Pittman said.

The Mustangs, now 5-6 overall, next play an undetermined team on Wednesday in the Torrey Pines Tournament in San Diego. According to Barkley, the next game should go well.

“I think the next game will go well if we play with as much energy as we did in the first game,” junior shooting guard Morgan Clark.
