Mira Costa’s boys basketball team defeated Diamond Ranch High School 51-34 on Saturday at Serra High School. The top players were senior point guard Brandon Chan and senior guard Ryan White.
Costa started out strong, causing them to have a large lead of 51-34 by the end of the game. According to senior forward Jonas Pittman, the team limited their penetration and forced the other team to take tough shots.
“We got off to a great start and got stops on the defensive end,” Chan said.
The Mustangs, now 10-6 overall, will play Peninsula High School in an away game on Tuesday in their first Bay League game. According to Chan, the team will be ready for the challenge and are going to embrace it and have fun.
“Their student section is always really crazy, so it should be a fun, competitive game,” Pittman said.
