Mira Costa’s girls water polo team was narrowly defeated by Peninsula High School 5-4 on Tuesday at Peninsula with a top performance by senior attacker Aminadi Anorve.
In the first half, the Mustangs dominated Peninsula, scoring on their shots and playing stellar defense. The Mustangs were up 3-1 at the end of the half, and Anorve was able to score a goal in that time frame.
“We played as a team, and everyone moved the ball well,” Anorve said. This created opportunities for us to score.”
Costa, now 5-5 overall, will play Palos Verdes at home on Thursday. According to Anorve, the team needs to score on their chances to be successful.
“To be successful, we need to keep on shooting the ball, and capitalize on our chances,” Anorve said.
