Mira Costa’s boys wrestling team placed twenty-ninth in its 60-team meet on Friday at a national tournament in Temecula. Top performers included junior Jared Williams and senior Jean Paul Le Bosnoyani.

Williams, who participated in the 145-pound division, went 2-1 in his matches, including  a win over the 17th ranked wrestler in California, finishing 7th overall. According to Williams, he performed at a high level.

“I felt that I performed up to my standards at Temecula,” Williams said. “It was obviously a very deep field due to its national status, but I persevered and beat two of the best wrestlers I have faced yet.”

The wrestling team, now 1-8 overall, will participate in their tenth meet of the season at home against Beverly Hills on Thursday. According to Head Coach Jimmy Chaney, the Mustangs are working hard and it is paying off.

“The team performed exceptionally well, led by Le Bosnoyani and Williams,” Chaney said. “We have reached a new level and we are looking forward to CIF.”
