Mira Costa’s girls soccer team blew past Inglewood High School at home on Tuesday with a scoreline of 8-0. The Mustangs were able to share the wealth, allowing five different teammates to find the back of the net.

Goals on the Mustang side from senior forwards Allison Roth, Emmie Farber, Whitney Davis, and sophomore midfielder Ava Vanthof, who recorded a hat trick, were the difference makers in the Mustangs’ blowout victory. Vanthof says the team did a great job of finding the back of the net.

“We really came together as a team today,” Vanthof said. “We all worked together and communicated while keeping the ball, and worked on moving it around the field and scoring our chances.”

The Mustangs, now 10-2 overall and 1-1 in Bay League, will next play the Morningside High School Monarchs away on Friday. Vanthof says if the team plays the way they did today, they’ll anticipate a similar result.
“If we can keep our momentum high off of this win today and continue to work as a team, we’ll do well this year,” Vanthof said. “Assuming we play like we did today, we should have no problem repeating our performance on Friday.”
