Costa awards exceptional scholars with breakfast

Mira Costa high school honored students for their extraordinary achievements at the Scholar Breakfast Ceremony on Nov. 16.

A welcome address was given by the Student Body President Iktae Park. After the pledge of allegiance, lead by Commissioner of Campus Welfare Ryan Hornstra, Principal Ben Dale began his scholarship breakfast address.

Awards were given by Vice Principal Mr. Jaime Mancilla. He first presented awards to the Honored Scholars; these students were selected by teachers on the National Honor Society board. Secondly, National Merit Scholars were honored for achievement on the PSAT/NMSQT test. National Hispanic Recognition Program Scholars were announced as well as National Council of Teacher of English award winners.

Finally, Manhattan Beach Student of the Month awards were presented to seniors Adam Robak, Leo Shaw, and Emily Goldenberg. The award ceremonies closed with a raffle for prizes that consisted of gift cards and Knott’s Berry Farm tickets.

“I believe all of the students who attended this ceremony worked hard this year and are very deserving of their awards,” Park said.
