Mira Costa’s girls basketball team defeated Peninsula High School 64-36 on Friday at Mira Costa High School in a Bay League game. Costa finished the game by scoring 28 points more points than Peninsula.
Costa started off strong, pushing ahead by the end of the first half. Costa’s aggressive offense and defense made it difficult for Peninsula to score throughout the second half. Peninsula was unable to catch up, and Costa won the game 64-36.
“We were unselfish which lead to a lot of assists and easy baskets,” senior Allie Navarette said.
Costa is now 13-7, and 5-0 in Bay League, and will play against Palos Verdes High School at Palos Verdes High School on Tuesday. To prepare for the next game the Mustangs are going to work on closing out on shooters and boxing out.
“We are all working hard in practice to make sure we take the win,” Navarette said.
