Mira Costa’s advanced drama classes held their seasonal Noontime Theater on Nov. 19, performing scenes relating to Thanksgiving.
The first scene was about two lesbian women, twenty years after high school. Senior Kaila Zitron played a woman who was pregnant and moody. The two women were hillbillies, and refused to have an ordinary Thanksgiving.
The second scene featured one of the advanced drama classes. The actors included seniors Leo Shaw, Jason Boxer, and Sam Henneberry. It depicted a story about talking animals gathering for a town hall meeting to decide who was going to be eaten for Thanksgiving. All of the animals gave various reasons why each could not be eaten. All of a sudden, senior Connor Angle, pilgrim employee walked across the stage, and the actors who played a pig, chicken, turkey, and cow all scattered around the stage.
The third scene displayed each actor giving a small monologue about what they are thankful for. Senior Danny Padilla played a character whose mom, played by senior Kellianne Safarik, is sick with cancer, and is running out of time to live, but she is thankful for the time she has on earth. Junior Maggie Ginoza played a girl who was in a car crash with her best friend, and reveals that she is in love with her. Delphi Borich talked to the audience about how here boyfriend abandoned her while she was pregnant, and is thankful for her parents. The scene closes when all of the actors reunite with the people they talked about in their skits.
“This week’s Noontime Theater went really well, and the skits were clever. On Friday, it was only advanced classes that performed opposed to different drama levels performing,” said sophomore Kathleen Yates.
