Students get active on the dance floor at the 2017 Winter Formal dance. The dance was held by ASB at the Westin Los Angeles Airport on Saturday, February 4 and began at 7:30 PM.Vice Principal Jon Shaw scans the dance floor to regulate the crowds of students scattered throughout the dance. Mr. Shaw was joined by principal, Dr. Ben Dale, and Athletic Director, Mr. Glenn Marx, to oversee the dance.A Mira Costa student requests a song for the DJ to play at this year’s Winter Formal dance. Once the DJ was finished with her playlist, students were allowed to request music, as long as the music had been previously downloaded by the DJ.Mira Costa students pause from the dance to fill their plates at the buffet. The caterer of the dance supplied students with different dinner options, followed by a variety of different desserts.The DJ triggers a smoke cannon effect to eject fog from both sides of the stage. Smoke effects were combined with colorful lighting and a variety of dance songs to create an entertaining atmosphere for students to enjoy.
