Mira Costa’s girls soccer team cruised past Morningside High School away on Wednesday with a victory of 10-0. The Mustangs were able to share the wealth, allowing seven different teammates to find the back of the net.
Goals from the Mustangs came from players all over the field, from defenders to forwards. Junior defender Jamie Averch said that the team played well as a team by distributing to different areas of the field allowing for more quality touches on the ball which led to an abundance of Mustang goals.
“We really showed our great depth today as we really began to come together as a team,” Averch said. “We all worked as hard as we could both on and off the ball, allowing us to consistently find the back of the net.
The Mustangs, now 10-4-2 overall and 2-3-1 in Bay League, will look for a repeat of events against Inglewood High School on Friday away. Averch said if the team can keep their momentum from Wednesday’s game, they should come away with another win.
“There isn’t much at all that I think we as a team would change from today’s performance,” Averch said. “What we did today just seemed to click, which makes me feel confident about duplicating this result in the games ahead.”
