Mira Costa’s boys basketball team fell to Inglewood High School 54-62 in a home game on Tuesday. The top performers were senior point guard Brandon Chan and junior shooting guard Morgan Clark.
Costa started the game even with Inglewood but ended the first quarter down 11-20. The Mustangs came back strong in the second quarter with a three pointer by Chan and two three pointers by Clark. Costa ended the half 27-31. Costa was unable to come back, ending the game 54-62.
“I thought we got to the rim and we really got into the gapes and kicked out to the open shooters and shots started during the second half,” Chan said.
The Mustangs, now 13-12 overall and 3-6 in Bay League, will next play Redondo High School at an home on Thursday. According to senior guard Jackson Weaver, it will be a tough matchup against Redondo but the team will stick with them through it.
“If we bring the intensity and energy then anything can happen and we are looking forward to a great game at their place,” Chan said.
