Mira Costa’s boys soccer team defeated Peninsula High School 2-1 away on Wednesday, marking Costa’s fifth straight win in Bay League. Top performances came from senior midfielder Koa Work and junior defender Josh Rudow.
Costa was able to score the first goal of the game off a finish by Work. Costa was able to add another, but conceded a goal short after. Rudow and the rest of the Mustang defence did their jobs for the rest of the game, and did not let in a goal leading to the 2-1 victory.
“I think that we did a great job as a defense,” Rudow said. “Peninsula is a good team and we fought hard to not allow them to score a second to tie the game up.”
The Mustangs, now 11-4-2 and 5-0-2 in Bay League, will play against the Morningside Monarchs on Friday at home. According to Rudow, the team wants to finish Bay League with six consecutive wins.
“Obviously winning six in a row would be a great achievement for us,” Rudow said. “I think that would be a great way to finish off Bay League.”
