On Thursday, the Mira Costa Mustangs beat the Long Beach Poly Jackrabbits 2-0 in a game where Costa
controlled possession of the ball, running the Jackrabbits silly.
The first goal came within the first two minutes. Junior Indheca Wycoff crossed the ball low to the
center of the field and junior Andy Macedo put the ball in the back of the net, right over the
goalie’s fingertips.
Costa had many opportunities to score more goals in the second half. Macedo ripped a strike that went
right over the crossbar in the 60 minute. Senior Alex De La Espriella used finesse to almost place the ball in the
goal, but he didn’t have enough of an angle.
But finally with only 7 minutes left in the game, Wycoff scored a goal from a free kick on the right side of
the field. Wycoff headed the ball to the far post, and the goalie could not stretch out to make the play.
Costa’s next game is Tuesday, Dec. 7 at Bishop Montgomery.
