Mira Costa’s dance classes performed a total of 27 dances at their winter recital “Dance With Me” on Nov. 3 in the auditorium.
The winter recital, “Dance With Me,” was unlike most dance performances because students choreographed their one routines and selected their own music.
“I think watching a routine that was choreographed by high school students was much more intriguing than a number just choreographed by a teacher. It makes the performance much more inspired, and shows how the students are dedicated to dance,” sophomore Jarrah Korba said.
During the week of the performance, students were at the Costa auditorium until late at night, running through the show and preparing for recital night.
“We were practicing for about two months during the dance classes and during the show week, we had two practices after school. It was extremely tiring but worth it in the end,” junior Leticia Flory said.
Overall, the “Dance With Me” recital was a huge success according to the performers and the audience. Each routine provided a different dance style and educated the audience about the various kinds of dances. It also displayed Mira Costa’s diverse talent levels of dance.
“I really enjoyed watching the recital. I learned about the different styles of dance, and each student gave it their all. I could tell they spent a lot of time rehearsing, and it showed,” sophomore Hanah Proctor said.
