Mira Costa’s boys tennis team defeated Santa Monica High School on Wednesday in a home game. The top players were senior Tommy Kendall, sophomore Matthew Poh, and junior Dylan Sutro.

Costa defeated Santa Monica in many of the matches played. In singles, Kendall won his two sets 6-2 and 6-1 and Poh won one set 6-0, as did many other players. Costa continued to dominate in doubles with two wins made by Sutro and junior Ben Choromanski.

“Overall i feel like the team was lead to victory by senior coach Kendall with his sportsmanship and poise,” sophomore Kyle Sillman said.

The Mustangs, now 2-0 overall, will next play West Torrance High School on Thursday at home. According to Sutro, if the team can embody the values of sportsmanship and respect, it will be a great match no matter the outcome.

“With another performance similar to the one today, we should be able to clinch a n easy win for the rest of the season,” Sillman said.
