Mira Costa’s boys baseball team shutout Serra, 2-1 overall, in a 3-0 win at an away game on Saturday. Top performance from sophomore pitcher Merrick Baldo prevented Serra from scoring.

The Mustangs played against the Cavaliers, which have a 2-1 overall. Baldo pitched all 7 innings of the game. Senior Kohl Titzler excelled in the game by hitting a triple that scored 2 runs for the team.

“The strong points of the game were that we were positive and able to grind out a win,” sophomore Dylan Dennis said. “As a team I think we were happy to pull out of the game with a win against a solid team and we are looking forward to getting back on the field Monday.”

The Mustangs are now 3-1 overall and will play San Pedro on Monday at home. According to Dennis, the team stayed confident in their approach to win the game.

“I think the two games were completely different because yesterday we jumped out to a big lead early and kept it going from there,” Dennis said. “Today we were locked in a close game until the late innings where we found a way to come up with some big hits when it was needed.”
