Mira Costa’s boys tennis team defeated Beverly Hills High School 13-5 on Thursday at Costa. The top players were sophomore Matthew Poh, sophomore Ethan Han, and junior Evan Fortier.
Costa continues to dominate preseason with wins made by Poh, Han, Fortier and many other players. Poh played the competitor’s number two player and won his two matches. Han won one of his games and lost another. Fortier played the number one player and won 6-1, 6-0, and 6-0 in his matches.
“We played very aggressive tennis and although our lineup was slightly different, but we still managed to dominate in all areas of our match,” Fortier said.
The Mustangs, now -0 overall, will next play Chadwick High School on Wednesday in an home game. According to Fortier, the next week’s matches will be tough but the team will give itself the best chance by showing up ready to compete.
“I think we can win the next game if we all keep a positive attitude,” Poh said.
