Mira Costa’s baseball team defeated Culver City 3-2 in a home game on Tuesday. Sophomore shortstop Chase Meidroth led the team with a solo homerun in the first inning.
Sophomore Christian Bodlovich pitched six innings. The Mustang’s second run came from a walk with the bases loaded. In the sixth inning Meidroth had a run batted in which put Costa on top. Sophomore Merrick Baldo came in for the last inning.
“We did a good job getting runs early this game,” senior right fielder Kohl Titzler said. “Though we can still work on capitalizing with runners on base and putting teams away for good instead of letting them hang around throughout the game.”
The Mustangs, now 6-2 overall, will play against Lakewood High School at home on Saturday the 18th. The team battled the whole game and it was competitive but Costa came out on top said junior pitcher Jesse Storey.
“We have been working on our offense in practice,” Storey said. “So making sure we can get bunts down to move runners over to generate more runs is important.”
