Mira Costa’s girls lacrosse was defeated by Culver City High School 8-11 on Monday at Waller Stadium. The team was lead by sophomore Kelli Mark who helped Costa’s offensive push with three goals.
Other offensive contributors included sophomore Sydney Whitcombe, junior Gabby Baker who each had one goal and sophomore Avery McCarty had two goals. Junior Jamie Averch said that she feels the team could have done a lot better if they were able to connect more pases out of the back and finish more chances.
“Overall I feel this we as a team could have performed and done a lot better against this team,” Averch said. “We were not able to connect a majority of our passes and our finishing still needs work.”
Costa, now 3-7 overall, will play against Peninsula High School on Wednesday at Waller Stadium. Averch said that the team is hoping to bounce back in their next game on Wednesday against a bay league rival peninsula.
“Although we did not get the result we wanted the girls and I are really excited for our game on Wednesday,” Averch said. “Peninsula has always been a rival of ours so we hope we can show them who the better team is this year.”
