Mira Costa’s girls lacrosse was defeated by Peninsula High School 11-13 on Wednesday at Waller Stadium. The team was lead by senior Kelli Mark who helped Costa’s offensive push with four goals.
Other offensive contributors included Junior Jamie Averch and sophomore Elysia Hall who each had two goals and junior Gabby Baker who had three goals. Averch said that although the team lost they showed that when they are able to finish their chances they can be very competitive.
“Overall I feel like today was a solid match between both teams,” Averch said. “We were both creating and finishing chances all throughout the match but they were just able to get the upper hand.”
Costa, now 3-8 overall, will play against Birmingham High School on Wednesday at Waller Stadium. Averch said that the team is hoping to end their losing streak next game and they will start by having some solid practices before hand.
“I feel like we have been working really hard and it’s finally time for us to get a win again soon,” Averch said. “If we have a solid week of practice and Charlie Manley comes back healthy from injury soon then I feel like we will pick things back up.”
