Swims places third and fifth at Mt. San Antonio

The Mira Costa boys and girls swimming teams placed third and fifth out of thirty teams,, on Friday and Saturday at Mt. San Antonio College. Top performers included juniors Andrew White, and Henry Anthony, as well as junior Mona Stone, and sophomore Alex Crisera.

White competed in the 100 meter backstroke in the prelims and advanced to the finals. He placed 3rd with a time of 52.0 in the finals. White said he was happy with the time for his first meet of the season.

“I felt like it was good swims for the beginning of the season for me personally and sets me up nicely for CIF,” White said. “As a team, I felt we performed really well and put up some great times to start off this season.

Stone competed in the 100 meter freestyle and the 50 meter freestyle in the prelims, qualifying for the 50 meter finals. She placed twelfth in the finals with a time of 25.73 seconds. “I was really excited that I made finals for the 50 free and I felt that I performed well,” Stone said. “I am proud of the whole team and we are looking forward to the next meet.”

Mira Costa, now 0-1, next faces West Torrance on Thursday at 3 PM at home. According to Anthony, the Mustangs performed well and look forward to this upcoming match.

“We are looking forward to the upcoming match,” White said. “We have been preparing all season long and we are eager to perform.”
