The Mira Costa Drama and Tech Department competed and won multiple awards at the annual Fullerton High School Theatre Festival on March 17 and 18 at Fullerton College.

The Drama and Tech Department won the Sweepstakes Award for receiving the highest number of cumulative points from the final round. Costa also placed second in Musical Theatre for its performance of “Urinetown,” first in Theatre Games and first and second place overall in Tech Olympics. Senior Robert Diehl also won First Place Classic Dramatic Monologue for his “Romeo and Juliet” performance.

“[We tried] to bring our all and not weigh our happiness on the results of whatever the judges [said],” senior Claire Layden said. “As long as we’re happy with what we’ve done, then we’re happy.”
