The Mira Costa boys and girls swimming teams both beat West Thursday at home. Top performers included junior Henry Anthony and sophomore Kai Bathurst as well as junior Mona Stone and sophomore Alex Crisera.
Anthony competed in the 200 meter Individual Medley in the prelims and advanced to the finals. He placed second with a time of 2:09:56 in the finals. He felt he performed decently for his second meet of the season.
“I felt I did well and I’m going to continue to perform and leave it all out there,” Anthony said. “As a team, I felt we performed decently well and put up good enough times for where we are in this season.”
Stone competed in the 50 meter freestyle and in the 100 meter freestyle in the prelims, qualifying for the finals of both. She placed second in both events in the finals with times of 27.13 seconds and 58.91 seconds. According to Stone, she did not perform her best.”
“I didn’t do my best, but I gave what I had to give,” Stone said. “It was a good first home meet for the team, and everyone did well, but there are still things we could improve upon.”
Mira Costa, now 1-1 overall, next next participated in the SBI prelims on Tuesday and Wednesday at 2 PM. According to Anthony, the Mustangs performed well and look forward to this upcoming match.
“Coming off this performance, we are looking forward to the upcoming match,” Anthony said. “This was a solid home match and we are going to perform even better next one.”
