Mira Costa’s boys tennis team defeated Los Alamitos High School on Thursday in at Los Alamitos. The top players were sophomore Matthew Poh, junior Evan Fortier, and senior Tommy Kendall.
Costa tied the game 9-9 before coming back and winning games 81-75. Fortier won 6-1 and 4-0 against the other team’s number two and three players. Poh also defeated them 7-6 and 6-0 and Kendall won 6-2 and 6-1.
“Everyone fought hard individually and I love how we were cheering for our teammates throughout the matches,” Poh said.
The Mustangs 7-0 overall will next play Peninsula High School on Monday in an away game. According to Poh, the next match is going to be hard so the team will have to play its best to get the win.
“We just need to keep the same intensity as our last match and keep the momentum rolling,” Kendall said. “We just have to put it all out there and not hold anything back.”
