Mira Costa’s girls beach volleyball team defeated Bishop Montgomery 6-0 on Friday in a home game. The team came away with a win, with top performances from seniors Maddie Micheletti and Sunny Villapando.
The Mustangs were able to play hard against Bishop, despite some setbacks from the weather conditions, according to Villapando. The team won two of their games against Bishop 21-7 and 21-12. According to Micheletti, the team played their best, even in the conditions.
“Our whole team played really well overall especially in the windy conditions,” Micheletti said. “We had really good control of the ball and put the ball away well.”
The Mustangs record is now 4-0, and they will play Santa Monica on Thursday at Dockweiler. The team needs to work on minimizing errors and playing smarter, according to Villapando.
“Before the next game, we have to work on being better decision makers and getting the ball to the sand as quick as possible,” Villapando said.
